audiowood_barky02v31

The ‘audiowood barky turntable’ by Joel Scilley merges two disparate materials in one coherent design for a classier vinyl experience.

The slice of solid ash features a weighty glass platter, adjustable stainless steel spike legs and a polyurethane and paste wax finish.
the design is handmade in the US and is outfitted with a premotech motor and a rega tonearm.

In an age of ipod and mp3s the record turntable is defiantly a nostalgic piece of audio equipment,
but designer joel scilley is reinventing them using wood. scilley uses pieces of wood, cutting them and embedding the various electronic parts. the result is a series of unusual record players that showcase the materials and turn the device into something more timeless than retro. but scilley isn’t  all about the music formats of the past either. he has also made a series of wooden ipod docks,  which utilize the standard white cord and two pieces of wood to hold up the device.
